September Message from Mary Froning

Schools are in full swing and the start of fall is just around the corner. This also means our Fall Conferences are in full swing as well. I wish to congratulate all the co-workers that will be receiving their Green Cap Honors at their respective Fall Conferences and Convocations. You are now half way to receiving your College of Regents Degree. You have worked hard and led your chapter to be successful and earn the Award of Achievement. You have demonstrated what teamwork is and how it can be used to build and strengthen your chapters and lodges.

I have been busy with my travels to several Conferences. Thank you to Michigan for a great conference. You did an outstanding job of hosting us. We also wish to thank Arizona/New Mexico for also making us feel so welcome. We even learned how to do the Hulu Dance! Can’t say we were very good but we sure did have a lot of fun.

We will continue our travels this month to Kentucky and then to Mandan, ND for our own state conference. That song titled “On The Road Again” sure does ring true for us! We do enjoy our travels from state to state as there are so many beautiful sites to see as we travel through. We take a lot of back roads so we really get to see the countryside! There is beauty all around us; we just need to take the time to see it.

Fall also means it is time to start the Moose Youth Awareness Congresses. This is such a great way to get our name out into the communities and gives our kids a wonderful opportunity to work towards several Heart of the Community Scholarships. Talking to 4 – 9 year olds about the dangers they unfortunately face in our communities is a valuable educational tool. If your Chapter or Lodge does not participate in this great opportunity you might want to go to our website at and check it out. All the information to do a congress is there as well as the schedule of the nearest congress is in your state.

There are so many wonderful opportunities that you can take advantage of in your community to help others in need as well as spread the mission of the Moose Fraternity we just need to get out there and do it as Walt Disney stated, “The Way to Get Started Is To Quit Talking and Beginning Doing.”

Have a great month!  Share a positive attitude and remember this,

“You are today where your thoughts have brought you; you will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you” ~ James Allen
