Well here we are nearing a fiscal year end on April 30th. Where is your fraternal unit going to end up in way of active membership count? Will you be a plus for the year? We hope so!
Pretty sure that getting on the phone and reaching out to members who are expired or are about to expire can only help. It does not take any real intricate skills, but just a caring person to sit down and talk to a member about what we do and what that individual’s membership does to help that process.
It can be a good idea to have a list of events coming up and available they might be interested in that you can make them aware of. Of course reminding them of the member benefits available to save on various programs through our discount relationships is another key point you can make as well.
But honestly sometimes, it is really simply a matter of letting them know someone cared enough to just reach out and say hello. Acknowledging they are part of our family and we care about them is sometimes all they need to consider renewing. All of us ought to be able to do that and should make the effort.
Not only does our local fraternal unit depend on them – but so do the children at Mooseheart and our seniors at Moosehaven. Any work we do in the community benefits by each person’s membership in helping to sustain our organization. Everyone is important and valuable. We need to let our members know that with a friendly reminder.
New applicants are important – but retaining the members we have can often be of greater benefit and even easier. Remember the Golden Rule of doing unto others as you would have done unto you. Let’s reach out and contact them in a friendly and fraternal way and encourage their renewal. Our mission depends on our members. Together we can make our mission effective and strong.
