For many of us returning home from the International Convention in New Orleans, we were inspired by the speakers, reports and information provided. Did you hear the exciting news from Grand Chancellor Barb? Our chapters do not have to obtain a plus one in membership for 2024-2025 as it is being waived this year only for the Award of Achievement. This announcement stems from the expiration of the free-years dues for Chapter members and the potential decline in Chapter membership. But it is important to keep working our arrears lists and retain as many members as possible. Our Chapters provide vital support to our programs and membership, like the Moose Legion for our male members, is an added benefit of Moose membership. Note: Those sisters working for personal honors still need to meet the sponsorship requirements for their respective degree.
It was exciting to see sisters receive the Star and College of Regents Degrees, and I hope plans have been made to honor those at an open meeting. They worked diligently to keep the chapter records in order and all members worked together to receive the Award of Achievement. What an honor it was to see the list of chapters who earned honors. Congratulations to all of you.
We should all be embracing our communities and having community service events. Our children have started back to school and various items are needed, whether it be filling back packs with school supplies or donating needed items for the class such as Kleenex, hand sanitizer and many other items. Some school districts have weekend programs providing food and snacks to children in need. Contact your local school and see how the Women of the Moose can be of assistance. There are numerous ways we can be of service to people in our area.
I look forward to assisting my lodge and chapter by Embracing our Community. With our lodges and chapters working together, we can and will make a difference.
Verna Miller, Grand Regent
