Large Crowds Celebrate Indiana Day July 30,
Illinois Day Sept. 9

Nearly 1,000 filled the Child City fieldhouse on Indiana Day, which was July 30. More than $13,500 was raised in support of Mooseheart and other Moose activities by Indiana Lodges and Chapters.

Visiting members of state and provincial Moose Associations are always welcome to visit the Museum of Moose History, situated near the entrance to the Child City campus. Some Indiana members took advantage of a tour of the museum on Indiana Day. Tours are led by museum curator Robert Zaininger, a member of the Mooseheart Class of 1965.

On Illinois Day, Meyers Clan Marks Fieldhouse Foyer Renovation; Dedication of Plaque

> One of the highlights of Illinois was the ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the recently renovated Otto W. Meyers Fieldhouse Foyer. The foyer is named after Meyers, who culminated a 20-year career of service with the Moose as Director of Membership from 1953-57.

Members of the Meyers family cut the ribbon.

Donations from the Illinois and the California-Nevada associations funded the project, which provided window, door and floor renovations. More than $176,000 was raised for the renovation work. Work was completed in time for Mooseheart’s May 27 graduation.

Child City’s Automotive Program Receives Test Cars From Hyundai

Mooseheart Automotive Fundamentals class members stand beside Hyundai test cars donated in October. From left, Luke Miller, Robert Picker, Katherine Morones, Donald Niersbach, Tarkop Kollie, Andy Howard, Kenny Arceri and Galen Kirby.

> Step by step, Mooseheart’s Automotive Fundamentals class is beginning to take shape.

The program gained a teacher when Dennis Ruedel took charge of the auto-mechanic vocational program in August.

The next necessity was cars on which the students could work.

Hyundai donated three test cars to the program in October. Don Rotermund, Hyundai Training Manager for the Central Region, brought the cars to the Child City, where students and Ruedel joined Superintendent of Education Gary Urwiler and Executive Director Scott Hart in accepting the vehicles.

Ruedel said the cars will be used by the students to practice testing all the vehicle’s systems.

Ruedel said the program is still in need of further driveable vehicles for use in the program--as well as hand tools and air tools geared toward automotive use.

For further information, please contact Dennis Ruedel at 630/859-2000, ext. 2088.
