Bedford, VA Takes Men’s, Co-Ed Softball Crowns
> Perennial contenders Bedford, VA Lodge 1897 took the crown in the 16th Annual International Moose Softball Tournament, hosted July 22-24 by Saukville, WI Lodge 1043.
Jim Carter from Bedford 1897 was named the Most Valuable Pitcher, while Paul Scott, also from Bedford, was named Most Valuable Player. The Home Run Derby winner was Steve Hendrickson from Granite City, IL Lodge 272. Chris Henry of Vacaville, CA Lodge 1967 was named Baserunning Derby winner. Dennis Anderson of Belleville, MI Lodge 934 won the Throwing Contest.

2005 Bowling Title
> The Harmony, PA Lodge 957 Team 4 rolled their way to victory during the 55th Annual Men’s International Bowling Tournament hosted by East Erie, PA Lodge 593 and Chapter 1555 April 2-June 5.
Nineteen inches of Lake Erie snow and power outages greeted guests from across our continent during opening weekend, but our bowlers and volunteers endured and had a great time despite the wrath of Mother Nature.
James Mee of Jamestown, NY Lodge 1681 took home the trophy in the Handicap Singles Division and the team of Gordon Haines and Luis Perez of Lewistown, PA Lodge 143 captured the Doubles title.

Scratch Title at Intl. Golf Tourney
> Despite 90+ degree temperatures, 448 Moose golfers came to Murfreesboro, TN, Aug. 5-7 for three beautiful days of golf on three exciting and very different courses.
Murfreesboro Lodge 645 hosted the 2005 event for the men and women of the fraternity from across the North American continent.
Lodge 645 and Chapter 1110 members and volunteers are to be commended for their warm Southern hospitality and their generous dedication to this event.
Winning the Men’s Scratch Team event was the team from Oak Ridge, TN Lodge 1316, while Murfreesboro, TN Lodge 645 won the handicap event.
We look forward to another exciting golf tournament Aug. 4-6, 2006, to be hosted by Albuquerque, NM Lodge 1517.

Shifflett-Burke Combine Talents
to Take Top Honors in Mixed Doubles
at Horseshoes Tourney
> The 19th Annual Moose International Horseshoe Tournament hosted by Strasburg, VA Lodge 403 over July 15-17 proved to be very exciting as Elbert Shifflett of Frederick, MD Lodge 371 returned to take the championship crown in Men’s Singles Flight A with a ringer percentage of 68.27.
Hearl Kelly of Glasgow, VA Lodge 690 and Mark Bunch of Lynchburg South, VA Lodge 1727 (6-1) kept Elbert and his partner Allen Withrow of Ronceverte, WV Lodge 2523 (5-2) from winning first place in the doubles division by defeating them.
An undefeated Tamara Burke of Martinsburg, WV Chapter 738 (7-0) took the Women’s Singles Division with an outstanding ringer percentage of 70.56. Tamara and her partner Jo Cole also of Martinsburg were also undefeated in the Women’s Doubles Division with a record of 6-0.
Special thanks goes out to the members and volunteers of Strasburg Lodge 403 and Chapter 1319 for their help, hospitality and dedication throughout the weekend as well as the pitchers and supporters for their participation in our program.
