‘While the Receiving is Good— The Giving is Even Better

> With the holiday season fast approaching, we’ll each soon be seeking something very special to give as holiday gifts to people we care about.

We’d like you to consider that there is perhaps no more valuable holiday gift than the gift of Moose membership. Merchandise generally has but one use—a toaster only makes toast, a tie is for wearing. Gift certificates are great, but once used, they’re worthless. But—giving Moose membership to a friend, relative or business associate provides an ongoing reward. The first year of membership introduces the receiver of your gift to new friends and social experiences, a new range of activities, many value-added benefits, and that great feeling of contribution that one gains from making a difference in the life of children and seniors in need.

After that first year, he or she may continue their membership, for generally just several cents a day. And you’ll feel great knowing that you made the difference—simply because you gave the gift that starts it all!

During this special time of year, why not give a gift of membership in the Loyal Order of Moose or the Women of the Moose? You’ll never regret it, and the recipient of the gift will benefit from your generosity. Don’t forget—the enrollment fee in ALL Lodges and Chapters is just $10, through April 30, 2005.

Member sponsors, have you earned your cap, your travel valet, or your projection clock yet? Better yet, have you qualified for eligibility for one of our three Chrysler PT Cruisers—by sponsoring just ONE member? The first PT Cruiser-winner’s name, drawn from among our 2004-05 sponsors, will be announced Sunday, Nov. 14 at the beginning of our “Unleash the Power” fraternal seminar at the Excalibur Resort in Las Vegas. If your name’s not selected in November, remember that we’ll be drawing the names of two more vehicle winners—one in February, at the fraternity’s Supreme Council meeting at Mooseheart, and the final one in Las Vegas next June during the 117th International Convention. And—if you happen to be present in Las Vegas for the Convention, we’ll add another $1,000 in cash for fuel!

Moose Travel Program: While it is too late to book with us for our December cruise through the Hawaiian Islands on NCL America’s Pride of Aloha, it is NOT too late—nor is it too early!—to secure your cabin on Princess Cruise Lines’ Diamond Princess for our two-week, “down under” experience to Australia and New Zealand, setting sail Jan. 8, 2006! Cruise-only prices for this truly once-in-a-lifetime experience start at just $1,095 per person. For more information, call Cruises International at 800/255-7447 and ask for the Moose Desk.

Is there someplace else in the world that you would like to see the Moose visit as part of our Travel Program? Just drop a note to William B. Airey, Moose International, Mooseheart IL 60539-1184, or via e-mail to BAirey@mooseintl.org.

Plan for your Lodge’s Centennial! Does your Lodge have a 100th anniversary coming up within the next 10 years? Nearly 1,000 of our Lodges do, with several hundred Centennials coming between early 2007 and 2010. If you’re one of those (check your charter to make sure), now is the time to put together a Centennial Committee to develop a year-long commemoration of your Lodge’s first century of service. Don’t wait until the last few months so that there is no time to get input from your members, and the community. Tips will be forthcoming from headquarters soon!

Our Top ’04 Rookie Learned of Us Via
the Web!

> You may have noticed, in the August issue, this photo of our recipient of the 2004 International Shining Star for Rookie of the Year. John Corcoran, Administrator of Anaheim, CA Lodge 1853, received the award in Charlotte from then-Supreme Governor Tom Hatcher. What we didn’t have room to tell you, was that Corcoran originally contacted Director of Marketing/Membership Development Bill Airey via e-mail in fall 2000—having learned for the first time about our fraternity solely from www.mooseintl.org. After exchanging correspondence, Airey was happy to sponsor Brother Corcoran’s membership application—and in the three years since then he has become enthusiastically active in every aspect of our program. It shows, among other things, that our Web site is a valuable, always-available tool to help educate candidates as to what the Moose is all about.
