Tommy Moose Continues to Make News—and Important Friends!—All Across Continent



> Forty-eight Tommy Moose dolls were donated by Grand Rapids-Sparta, MI Lodge 50 and Chapter 111 to four civic agencies. From left are Community Service Chairman Leon Brown, Sparta Police Officer Brian Wheeler, Sparta Firefighter Dan Harkema and Lodge Administrator Sean Smith. Tommy Moose is designed to help fire and police officers comfort children in traumatic situations. (Click here for order form.)



Mooseheart, IL Chapter 3001 has presented nine Tommy Moose to the Amboy, IL, Fire Dept., where they are being kept in the ambulance to hand over to children as needed. Amboy Fire Paramedic Corrine Powers (left) gladly accepted the Moose from Chapter Recorder Teresa Ehlert.


Worcester, MA Lodge 2616 presented two dozen Tommy Moose to the Holden Police and Fire departments. From left are Police Officer Todd Ventres, Lodge Administrator Armand Boulay Jr., Firefighter Jackie Prosser, Treasurer Earl Regan and Lodge Governor Barry Tupper Jr.


Georgia’s Governor Meets with Moose to Pay Tribute to Public Safety Workers



> Smyrna-Oakdale, GA Lodge 1917 and Chapter 1420 honored Cobb County and City of Smyrna firemen, sheriff’s deputies, and rescue squad members at an appreciation banquet. The Honorable Sonny Perdue, Governor of Georgia (seated), visited the Lodge and signed a letter of appreciation. From left are state official Bill Atkins, Graduate Regent Polly Lewis, Lodge Administrator Marion Lewis, Senior Regent Lynette Bowersox, State Sen. Ginger Rogers, Lodge member Kevin Bowersox, Gov. Perdue, retired state official George T. Smith, Presiding Judge of the Georgia State Court of Appeals Alan Blackburn, Lodge Community Service Chairman Ed Crumbley and Lodge Governor Woody Hiatt.


An Act of Love



> Pemberton, NJ Chapter 1343 members presented a Spinoza Bear to two-year-old Katherine Salazar (pictured here in the arms of her mother, Mary). Katherine, a native of the Dominican Republic, underwent open-heart surgery and was in intensive care for 22 hours. Co-workers (from left) are Mary VanSteinburg, Mary Steinwehr, Linda Przybylko, Erma Marino, Julia Taylor, Gayle Favro and Martino Boyce. Co-workers also sent cards to Katherine on her second birthday, Jan. 2.

New Castle, DE Lodge 1578 member Sonny Rosel represented the Moose by volunteering to staff Salvation Army bells and kettles during the holidays. Rosel (left) raised $9,103.97 and even received a Congressional Award from U.S. Rep. Michael Castle (right) for the Lodge’s service to the community.




Fort Myers, FL Lodge 1899 and Chapter 1020 joined their local community to support a Kids for Cancer Benefit at a local mall. Members held a BBQ chicken dinner fundraiser and raised $6,027. From left are Prelate Frank Thomas, Senior Regent Barbara Thomas and Junior Governor Dale Cobane with a display check for that amount.




Scoutmaster John Magyarics (third from left) congratulated five young men who earned the rank of Eagle Scout in Boy Scout Troop 301, sponsored by Berwyn, IL Lodge 424/Chapter 325. Achieving Eagle rank were (from left) Joe Garcia Jr., John Jones, Greg Airdo, Sebastian Navarro Jr. and James Karp. Karp is the second member of his family to earn Eagle under Scoutmaster Magyarics. His father Larry earned his Eagle award in 1979 while a scout with Troop 301, sponsored by Cicero, IL Lodge 265/Chapter 747, and led by Magyarics.
