R. Robert Dale Scholarship Winners
44 Students Will Each Receive $1,000 Award
> Since 1986, the Moose fraternity has bestowed nearly $1.2 million on 1,188 students who have each won $1,000 academic awards under the R. Robert Dale Scholarship program. The chance to win such a scholarship is now open to the high school class of 2008.
Current high school juniors are eligible to enter, until June 30, 2007, through the Moose membership of their mother, father or legal guardian (one application per eligible junior). They must have a good academic record (a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale; a C+ average). Winners may use their $1,000 scholarships for tuition, books and fees at any accredited college or trade school after graduation from high school.
All winners will be notified by Nov. 15, 2007. Drawings to determine the winners are scheduled for Moose Association Conventions from July to October across the U.S. and Canada. Additionally, any Lodge/Chapter combination with 25 or more eligible applicants may hold a Dale drawing for just its own applicants! There were two such qualifying Lodges this year: Greeneville, TN Lodge 692/Chapter 1598 (six consecutive years); and New Martinsville, WV Lodge 931/Chapter 2165 (12 consecutive years).
Applications? They’re available from Lodge Administrators and Chapter Recorderswho are asked to verify the Moose-affiliation informationor check online in the member’s only portion of www.mooseintl.org and look for the R.Robert Dale scholarship link.
One or both parental memberships may be listed on the application.
The Dale Scholarship program is the legacy of the late R. Robert Dale, a member of St. Charles, IL Lodge 1368 who, in the 1980s, left a $1 million gift to the fraternity in his will, to benefit children of Moose members who did not need the services of Mooseheart Child City & School.
