Fregulia Reminds WOTM of its ‘Pure Mission:
Children and Seniors Depend On Us’
$6,515,802 in donations for ’05-06
 Janet Fregulia,
Grand Chancellor, Women of the Moose
> In her first International Conference address since becoming Grand Chancellor of the Women of the Moose last Sept. 1, Janet Fregulia admitted that the last year has been anything but smooth.
“It’s been quite a year hasn’t it? Anyone want to do it over? No? I didn't think so,” Fregulia quipped during her keynote address Sunday morning. “I’ll share a secret with you: We don’t want to either.”
Fregulia, who took over as WOTM chief executive from the retiring Tonie Ewoldt last fall, said that after the past year, she believes the Women of the Moose can weather any storm.
“Since 1913, our women’s organization has gone through many changes--our members have accepted them and moved on. We have suffered through wars, lived through societal change, natural disasters, and now we live in a faster-paced world,” Fregulia said.
“Our membership has fluctuated up and down and there have been many challenges to our very existence. In spite of all challenges, our organization has continued and we have become stronger--because we have a pure mission, and that mission is to provide a home for children and seniors dependent upon our care,” she said.
Fregulia stressed that while there are sometimes personality conflicts in Chapters, co-workers need to work together and “get over it!” because the fraternity needs everyone’s help.
“We have a duty to care for others less fortunate,” she said.
- Following up on the announcement from earlier in the spring, the Grand Chancellor confirmed that the concept of male “affiliations” for Women of the Moose members was retired as of May 1. Home Chapter members currently associated with a Chapter will be included in that Chapter’s membership. (Only members from closed chapters will pay their annual membership dues to Chapter 3000, which is maintained at Moose International.)
Moose International will continue to deduct the per capita from all membership dues payments, Fregulia explained. In order to compensate for the lost Home Chapter revenue that augmented donations received at International headquarters from Chapters, there was an increase in per capita to $12 per member as of May 1 (also as previously announced). However, each Chapters now will receive annual income of $8 for each former Home Chapter member (based on $20 Chapter dues).
Fregulia had also reported (during a presentation to the Supreme Lodge General Session Sunday) on WOTM monies contributed in 2005-06:
- total donations of $377,438 received for Moosehaven special projects;
- total donations of $470,974 received for Mooseheart special projects;
- total donations of $586,789 received for the Mooseheart/ Moosehaven Endowment Fund.
- total donations of $235,452 for Community Service Projects.
- total donations of $90,590 from Chapters to State Provincial for special projects.
- total donations of $2,014,770 donated from Chapters to Lodges;
. . . For a 2005-06 grand total of $6,515,802 in all Women of the Moose funds contributed to all Moose endeavors.
Fregulia concluded her Sunday address by asking all the co-workers gathered to rise, hold hands and sing the rousing 1970s anthem, “United We Stand.”
“United we stand-- united in our determination to bring our chapters and the Women of the Moose to greater success--and, of most importance--united in our determination to ensure the future of our beloved cities, Mooseheart and Moosehaven,” Fregulia concluded.
