Assistant Director, Field Operations

  $ 40-50,000 + potential commissions
  This position, while ideally situated at Mooseheart, can reside anywhere in the U.S. or Canada.

 

 

 

 

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of Membership, the Assistant Director, Field Operations will oversee all activities of the Membership Field Staff and ensure that the programs of Moose International are uniformly enacted at the local level. The Assistant Director will monitor Regional Manager (RM) travel patterns to make sure all lodges receive adequate attention, and will be a key resource when a RM needs special assistance with a lodge. Along with the Director of Membership, s/he will be instrumental in setting and achieving goals and targets for RMs and will be the primary contact for ongoing communications with International headquarters.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with Regional Managers to establish membership goals for each Association within the region, as well as goals for donations to Moose Charities;
  • Drive the annual membership campaign from Moose International;
  • Maintain constant communication with each RM via phone and email to monitor progress throughout the year and recommend changes to improve individual performance;
  • Review and discuss reports submitted by RMs regarding lodges visitations, association programs, and issues in their regions;
  • Develop, maintain and administer a RM evaluation program to determine the effectiveness of performance of the MI Membership Field Staff;
  • Monitor RM travel to ensure that each individual is providing the proper amount of personal attention and MI visibility within the lodges;
  • Approve RM expense reports;
  • Coordinate with the Assistant Director, Retention and Recognition to provide statistical reports by the Membership Department that actively monitor progress of Associations in the region and the Lodges within those Associations;
  • Make recommendations and suggestions to the Director of Membership based on nformation contained in reports;
  • Act as a liaison for the Membership Department for any lodge that an RM identifies as having exceptional issues that prevent it from conducting business in an approved manner;
  • Develop and coordinate information and materials for new fraternal units;
  • With the Director of Membership, create and administer formal group RM training meetings, as required;
  • Identify opportunities for RMs to improve individual skills through specialized training and education;
  • Assist RMs in planning of Association Annual Conventions and Mid-Year Conferences, as well as assuring that agendas are properly completed;
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned

    SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:

    The Assistant Director, Field Operations will directly supervise the Regional Managers representing each State/Provincial Moose Association or combination thereof.

  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • College degree or work history equivalent
    • Valid drivers license with good driving record
    • Ability to travel frequently, many times overnight
    • Knowledge of Moose laws, policies and procedures
    • Above average computer skills with knowledge of Windows 7, word processing and spreadsheet software. MS Office Suite preferred; Quickbooks Pro helpful
    • Previous supervisory experience is preferred

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, type, write, reach or grasp with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel or crouch
    • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds
    • Work may be stressful in periods of high volume and/or tight deadlines
    • Will be required to work long hours, evening hours and weekends
    • While performing duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time
    • Employee may be required to travel by automobile both daytime and nighttime hours and therefore may be required to sit for long periods of time
    • Requires some overnight travel
    • Requires travel by air several times per year
    • Although there is preference for this position to be based at International headquarters, this position may be located anywhere within the United States or Canada as long as internet and phone service are readily available.

    • Standard office equipment including personal computer, printer, copier, fax, scanner, cell phone and/or Blackberry.
