Eugene Joyce of NH Dies of Cancer at 60

Eugene Joyce, a member of the Moose Charities Board of Directors, died Wednesday, Aug. 1 after a battle with cancer. He was 60.

Mr. Joyce had served on the Moose Charities Board since his appointment in July 2010 at the 122nd International Convention in Nashville.

He had joined the Moose at Newport, NH Lodge 1236 in April 1994; he served his Lodge as both Governor and Administrator. He became a Life Member in 2001.

Mr. Joyce served his Northeast Moose Association as TIPS Trainer, Leadership Trainer, as Membership Chairman, and as "Gimme Five" Chairman for Moose Charities. He served the Association as its President in 2005-06 -- and for two terms as Deputy Supreme Governor, both before and after his Presidency. He served the Association as a Deputy Regional Manager on a volunteer basis.

A member of the Moose 25 Club, Mr. Joyce elevated to Northeast Moose Legion 92 in 1997. He received the Fellowship Degree of Honor in 2001 and the Pilgrim Degree of Merit in 2008.

Professionally, Mr. Joyce had been a computer systems designer programmer in the pharmacy industry, working for the last 15 years of his career as an independent contractor.

Mr. Joyce is survived by his wife, Prudence Derby-Joyce, a member of the Women of the Moose Grand Council; plus a daughter, Carrie Young; son-in-law, David Young; and a granddaughter, Katie.
