James Pizarke Obituary

May 22th, 2014

James W. Pizarek, 66, of Michigan City passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Franciscan Saint Anthony Medical Center in Crown Point, Indiana.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of All Saints Church with Rev. Kevin Huber officiating. Viewing will be held on Friday from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Root Funeral Home and on Saturday from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at Queen of All Saints Church. A rosary will be recited on Friday at 4:00 p.m. and a Moose Pilgrim Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 7:00 p.m. both at the Root Funeral Home.

Jim was born August 1, 1948 in Michigan City to the late James H. and Eleanor M. (Mikulski) Pizarek. On September 25, 1971 in Michigan City he married Patricia Yentes Pizarek who is surviving in Michigan City.

Also surviving are two children: Peter (Kathy) Pizarek of Trail Creek and Amy (Andrew) Crane of Michigan City; four grandchildren: Benjamin Pizarek, Paige Pizarek, William Crane and Eleanor Crane; one brother: Marcellinus (Kimberly) Pizarek of Granger; and three sisters: Anne (James) Cadwell of Michigan City, Cynthia (Phillip) Sliwa of Columbus, Ohio and Pamela Pizarek of Michigan City.

Jim is preceded in death by one sister Mary Pizarek.

Jim was the Administrator for the Michigan City Moose Family Center #980.

He was a member of Queen of All Saints Church where he was an active volunteer for the Queens Festival. He was a member of Moose Family Center #980, held the Pilgrim Degree of Merit, was a member of the Mooseheart Board, a member of Pottawatomie Legion #94, Honorary Past Governor of Moose Family Center #980, a Honorary Past State President for the Indiana Moose Association and a past member of the International Community Service Committee. He was a member and Past President of the Indiana Council of Clubs and Polish Business and Professional Club. He was a member of Saint Joseph Young Men's Society and veteran serving during Viet Nam and he was a member of Skwiat American Legion Post #451 and a member of the Michigan City Summer Festival Committee. He was a Graduate of Purdue University and was an avid golfer and loved playing cards and spending time with his family and friends.

Memorials may be made to Moose Family Center #980.
