A Note from the Chief Executive Officer

As a life-long resident of Illinois, this is the one time of year when having a garage really helps. The other night, I left my car outside and by morning it was covered in a heavy frost. One essential winter time tool that many in the south are unfamiliar with is the “Scraper.” Although it sounds like some sort of Medieval torture device, this piece of hard plastic is typically left in the glove box or removed from the vehicle around the first of April. After opening every drawer and cabinet in our garage, I finally found it and scrapped the frost off the windshield and side windows. With a clear vision out the windows, I safely arrived on the Mooseheart Campus for a great day of work.

Perhaps in your personal life and/or your Moose Lodge, the vision forward has become a little frosted over. Your goals, ideas and aspirations seem to have become clouded with so many other competing demands in life today. We all have times that we need a reset; to renew the joy, confidence, passion and love of what we do best. Within our Fraternity, to refocus on the incredible support of our Moose family, reimagine how we can be the Heart of the Community, and be reenergized by our twin cities, Mooseheart and Moosehaven.

For those members who have recently joined The Moose, we welcome you and thank you in advance for your contributions to grow our organization and willingness to volunteer your time to make a positive difference in your community. For our outstanding sponsors, thank you for inviting qualified individuals to join our Fraternity. Our membership numbers continue to rise because of your willingness to share just how awesome it is to be a Moose.

Our Moose Fraternity is growing by leaps and bounds – just last month we ended plus 30,000 members, year over year. That tells me that our collective Moose vision is strong, with a clear view of the future. We have come to expect Florida and Ohio to lead the way in membership growth, but West Virginia, New Jersey and the Northeast are all in sight of the lead. No surprise that Anna Maria Island, FL Lodge 2188 and Indian Lakes, OH Lodge 1533 are setting the pace, but Mechanicsville, MD Lodge 495 is shining bright this year. Individually, Byron Dalton, Sr. and Jack Rafool are familiar names on the leaderboard, but it is Julienne Hayes of Maricopa, AZ Lodge 2730 and Judy Lovato of Albuquerque, NM Lodge 1517, who are out in front of all Sponsors.

Your Association, your lodge or you yourself may not be able to compete with the sheer numbers that others can produce, but your contributions are just as valuable to our mission to care for those in need and to enjoy one another’s company in a social setting. Thank you for being an important member of our Moose Fraternity and for helping keep a clear vision into our very bright future. God Bless!
