‘The Moose Were With Him From Beginning Until the End’

> My brother was in the hospital for more than two months without insurance, dying from what started as a spider bite. His friends at the Moose jumped right in and had a fundraiser to help with the bills. It was amazing how they organized this so well and efficiently. I live 50 miles past St. Louis, and wasn’t able to be with him.

These caring people even went to his house, cooked, cleaned, helped him get around, anything he needed. He passed away on Aug. 6 at age 45. The people of the Moose were with him from the beginning until the end; even at his bedside when he passed. They even had a big lunch prepared for family and friends at the Moose after the burial.

I can’t put into words how much my other brother and I appreciate everything they’ve done. You need to know what a wonderful group you have at Mt. Carmel, IL Lodge 1155.

In Indio, CA, police officer appreciates Moose kindness

> I am a police officer in the Coachella Valley. Recently several fellow officers and I were assigned to traffic detail for two very large events in this area. My traffic post was at John Nobles and Monroe streets, and I happened to park in the parking lot of Indio, CA Lodge 771. For two weeks in a row I was offered a home-cooked meal, a bathroom, cold drinks and plenty of water. I see now how hospitable the Moose is to the community.

Perspective from member, 32

> The story of the Moose is relevant to many younger people. But too often, it’s the “old guard” who put us off from staying involved. When older members want to do everything the same way they did it 30 years ago, you can’t keep younger members involved. And if older members cuss and scowl at the children every time they enter the Lodge home, families won’t be back.
