Two Years in a Row?!

With just a bit of extra effort, the Moose can do what it hasn’t done since ’81--grow its membership for two consecutive years.

And We’re Betting On You!

This colorful poster, announcing the details of Moose International’s short-term campaign for Jan. 1-April 30, dubbed “We’re Betting On YOU!”, was mailed to your Lodge Administrator well before Jan. 1; if it’s not prominently appearing in your Moose Center now, ask him why not!

> While membership in all segments of the Moose fraternity rose by an average of 9% last year, and the same thing occurred in the early 1990s, it has been more than a quarter-century since the Loyal Order of Moose has seen back-to-back years of net membership growth--in the 1979-80 and 1980-81 campaigns.

However, with more than half the 2007-08 Moose year gone, indications are that this goal is achievable, this year! As of Dec. 1, seven months into the year, we were on track toward an increase--not as large as last year’s, but an increase!

But, of course, we are by no means assured of this achievement. We can make it happen only through your concerted efforts to bring new members into our Defending Circle--and also, to make sure that our Order lives up to the expectations of the members who joined us last year and the year before that. We at headquarters can’t make that happen --but you, and your Lodge and Chapter, can. Only you and thousands of other members can make it happen--and We’re Betting On YOU!

That’s what we’re calling the Membership Department’s short-term campaign, Jan. 1 through Apr. 30, the final four months of the 2007-08 “I Believe” program. This campaign features special additional award recognition for our Brothers and Co-Workers who fulfill their obligation to increase Moose membership:

Lodge and Chapter members earning TWO sponsor credits between Jan. 1 and Apr. 30 will receive a deck of “We’re Betting On YOU” playing cards. Each deck includes a uniquely numbered 2008 International Moose Convention insert card. BRING this numbered insert card with you to the International Convention in Las Vegas, June 20-25, to see whether you’re the recipient of a special BONUS award! Available bonus awards include trips to the 2009 International Convention in Chicago, Life Memberships in the Order, Catalog Sales Gift Certificates, and more!

Of course, all new-member applications dated between Jan. 1 and April 30 will receive credit toward sponsor awards in the “I Believe” campaign as well.

We don’t know anyone who wouldn’t enjoy a great meal, followed by entertainment from one of the funniest men in America--John Pinette! And that’s exactly what Moose 25 Club members--both men and women--will be treated to during the 2008 Las Vegas Convention. This late winter and early spring are your last chance to earn your invitation to the gala 25 Club Party on Monday night, June 23! To receive an invitation, you must sponsor the 25th application of your Moose career during the ’07-’08 campaign year--or have previously entered the 25 Club and sponsor at least FIVE new applicants during the current campaign year. Any invited 25 Clubber will have the opportunity to purchase one guest ticket for $75--or can earn a complimentary guest ticket by attaining TEN sponsor credits during the May 1, 2007-Apr. 30, 2008 period.

Loyal Order of Moose and Women of the Moose members earning their way into the 2007 Director General’s Circle of Distinction--sponsors of 25 or more members during the “I Believe” campaign--will be invited to a special event during the Las Vegas Convention hosted by Director General Bill Airey and his wife Jean.

Are you still a few sponsor credits short of being invited to these exciting sponsor-recognition events? Do you think there is no one left to invite into your Lodge or Chapter? The Lodge Administrator or Chapter Recorder are always good people to begin with to seek leads. They’re able to give you a former-member list who just may be ready to give the Moose another try. This is especially true if your Moose Center has just remodeled, relocated, established a smoke-free interior--or even if your officers have simply expanded the number and variety of activities offered since a particular former member has allowed his or her dues to lapse.

Another person to consult for ideas is your Regional Manager. He can advise you and your Board of Officers on promoting and hosting an Open House (yes, the General Laws allow you to do this, with certain restrictions) to showcase your Moose facilities and activities to local citizens, as well as to show the many ways in which the Moose helps to benefit the community. Your Regional Manager can also share ideas with you which were used by other Moose operations that have been successful in building membership.

Not sure who the Regional Manager is in your territory? Find a full listing for all 44 Moose Associations here.

The excitement is building, as we consider the very achievable goal of a second consecutive year of membership INCREASE in the Moose fraternity! We need all of you to say “I Believe we’ll reach our goal”--and to approach potential new members with applications in hand, to make it happen! Not only do WE believe here at Moose International, “We’re Betting On YOU!”
