Tommy Moose:
Our Very Successful Community Service Program Gets Even Better!

New Tommy
> For nearly five years, the Moose fraternity has been working its way into the hearts of upset little children all over North America--and into the confidence of police officers, firefighters and ambulance personnel--with a tiny brown-and-red stuffed Moose named Tommy.
Originally the brainchild of Past Supreme Governor Tom Hatcher of Connecticut, Tommy Moose started out locally, but with Hatcher’s 2003-04 term as Supreme Governor, he quickly spread nationally, and internationally, throughout the U.S. and Canada. The simple concept of supplying a plush stuffed doll, free of charge, to public safety agencies and emergency workers, to keep in squad cars and ambulances to give to distraught children, was an inspired one--and it quickly won many influential new friends and positive visibility for the Moose.
Now, five years after his big debut, Tommy Moose is getting a makeover. With his updated appearance, we hope he’ll be even more welcome in police cars, fire trucks and ambulances than ever!
In February 2007, the Supreme Council began to seriously consider redesigning Tommy Moose. The opportunity existed to take a very successful Moose Community Service program to the next level; to continue the initial concept of providing a plush Moose in emergency vehicles while expanding Tommy’s recognition into additional areas to create a more identifiable image.
Doing so now enables the Moose the chance to trademark the Tommy Moose character to restrict use of the likeness to programs approved by the Order.
A new design, created in-house at Moose International, was submitted to a vendor and a prototype was composed. The design was approved, and production of the “new and improved” Tommy Moose has begun!
While it was extremely important to continue the success that Tommy Moose has spread throughout the fraternity, it was equally important to assure that the new design was flexible enough to be utilized in other arenas. Lodges, Chapters and Moose Legions are still urged to purchase plush Tommy Moose through Catalog Sales and present the items to emergency services personnel in their respective communities. If you’ve already made an initial presentation, stay in contact with these personnel, replenishing their stock when necessary.
The newly re-designed Tommy Moose became available in January, and will be used to fill all new orders. The price is still $75/dozen; Catalog #130. To order, call 630-966-2250; fax 630-859-3505; or click here for an ordering form and e-mail it as an attachment to catalogsales@mooseintl.org.
