Gene Huggins Gets Support From Festive Illinois Moose Association

> When Gene Huggins’ name was put forward (as expected) as the Supreme Governor nominee at Friday’s Supreme Lodge Opening Session, the doors to the Peabody Hotel International Ballroom burst open. In flowed a stream of members from the Illinois Moose Association’s delegation. The Illinoisans paraded around the ballroom, showing their support for Huggins’ nomination. The revelers also handed out refrigerator magnets supporting Huggins for the position.

Huggins came to the front of the stage to thank the members for their support and for a rousing demonstration.







Franz “Fritz” Griswold was sworn in as a new member of the Supreme Council during Tuesday’s Final Joint General Session at the Rosen Centre Hotel. Griswold, from Dansville, NY Lodge 1130, has served on the Mooseheart Board of Directors from 2004-2007.

Harley Swenson Honored with Conferral as Past Supreme Governor

> One of the fraternity’s most enduring and selfless servants, Harley Swenson of Nisqually Valley, WA Lodge 1905 appreciatively waved to the Supreme Lodge Opening Session after it conferred him June 29 with the honor of Past Supreme Governor of the Order, on the motion of Director General William B. Airey (right). Swenson joined the Moose in 1959, and has served the organization in numerous capacities. He had previously served on the Mooseheart Board of Governors, and submitted his retirement this spring as a member of the Moosehaven Board of Directors, a position he has held since 1996. The Convention delegates gave him a prolonged standing ovation.
